What It Is

August 26 is International Dog Day (founded in 2004 by animal-welfare advocate Colleen Paige). This time we are not after the polished official portrait - we want the dog as its true self: the most natural, scribbly, goofy, out-of-character second. Selected works will be made into "Star Dog Postcards" and featured at FamilyMart's DE Global Art Agency ALEA Featured Gallery, printable at stores nationwide. Your dog, officially on a postcard.

Categories (choose one, or enter both)

  • A. Scribble Illustration: Hand-drawn, tablet, or mouse - all welcome. It is not about technical polish, but the "scribbled in three seconds yet uncannily accurate" spirit.

  • B. Candid Photography: A phone camera is all you need. Lounging, spacing out, belly-up, failed poker face - the more natural, the better.

Eligibility

Open to all ages. Age is determined by full years as of the submission deadline; entrants in the youth group must be registered with the assistance of a parent/guardian or supervising teacher.

Entrant Benefits

  • Selected works are made into "Star Dog Postcards," featured at FamilyMart and printable nationwide

  • Inclusion in one group press feature for the event (media exposure)

  • Digital certificate of participation / selection

  • One letter of appreciation for the supervising teacher (issued after the event to those who list a supervising teacher at registration)

  • Honors selection: a judging panel plus public vote choose the "Scribble Star," featured on the event key visual and social covers

Important Statement

This event is a "work-showcase and nationwide retail-exposure initiative," with no cash prize and no physical award. Its core value is: nationwide retail exposure + media coverage + certificate of participation + supervising-teacher letter of appreciation. Works are featured on the FamilyMart retail platform for two months as promotional exposure; this does not involve sales revenue sharing. Fees paid by the public to print postcards are FamilyMart's printing service charges and do not constitute revenue sharing or remuneration for entrants. Completing registration constitutes understanding and acceptance of the above terms.

How to Enter (3 Steps)

  3. Receive your registration confirmation, then wait for your dog's debut

Work Specifications

  • Illustration: 300 dpi or higher, portrait orientation, JPG/PNG; suggested dimensions [per postcard template, TBD]

  • Photography: upload the original file,80x80cm or higher, portrait preferred (to fit the postcard template)

  • Both categories must include the "dog's name" and a one-line "debut statement" (e.g., "This pup is only in charge of being cute")

Theme Restriction: Real Dogs Only

The theme is strictly limited to real dogs (biological canines); the subject of every illustration or photograph must be an actual dog. The following do not meet the theme and will not be accepted, with no refund: humans dressed as dogs (costumes, anthropomorphized or human-dog characters); cats or other animals posing as dogs; three-dimensional figures (figurines, statues, dolls); non-living objects (plush toys, models, robot dogs); dog shapes formed from plants or floral arrangements. We want the kind of dog that pants, rolls belly-up, and lazes around.

Notes

Works must be the entrant's original creation, personally photographed or drawn, and must not infringe others' copyright or likeness rights. Selected works will be featured on the FamilyMart retail platform for two months. Registration grants the organizer authorization to use the work for postcard production, event promotion, press coverage, and social media, with no additional fee payable. Entry fees are non-refundable once paid. Works must comply with public decency and must not contain violence, animal cruelty, or similar content; violations result in disqualification without refund. The organizer reserves the right to adjust event details and hold final interpretation.

Our Four Annual Competitions

In 2025, DE Global Art Agency x ALEA partnered with FamilyMart FamiPort to hold the "Dog Day Illustration Competition," a public call on the theme of "a dog's everyday life" that drew enthusiastic entries from creators of all ages and design students. After multiple rounds of review by a professional judging panel, a First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and several Merit Award winners were selected; winning works were made available for public viewing and printing at FamilyMart via the FamiPort nationwide digital printing platform, bringing art into everyday retail spaces.

About This Stage

״I Found My Purpose״

DE Global Art Agency is an Asia-Europe academic exchange platform that has long cultivated a two-way connection between Asian and European academic art. With an academic network and artist-in-residence resources spanning Japan, France, and Taiwan, it is one of the few domestic academic platforms able to integrate multilingual submission mechanisms with international exhibition resources simultaneously.

We champion a two-way mechanism in which "scholarship guides creation, and creation gives back to scholarship," and through our channel partnership with FamilyMart FamiPort's DE Global Art Agency ALEA Featured Gallery, we bring academic creation out of the classroom and into the everyday settings of 4,000 stores across Taiwan - a public debut stage rarely available to student creators.

From primary school to adulthood, there is a competition for every stage of learning.
